The Ten-Headed Yang Snake, as an ancient beast, wasn't technically a spirit beast. However, based on its performance, its cultivation level was at least equivalent to a 50,000-year spirit beast. Given its unique nature, it could even be considered comparable to a 60,000 to 70,000-year spirit beast.
In front of this massive Ten-Headed Yang Snake, both Chen Yuan and Hu Liena seemed incredibly small.
"Roar!"
With a deafening roar, the Ten-Headed Yang Snake fixed its gaze on the two of them. Its fiery red eyes glowed with a predatory light.
While Chen Yuan remained calm, Hu Liena's expression changed drastically. She had heard about the terror of this monstrous snake from her teacher and quickly explained in a hurried tone:
"This snake is extremely dangerous. Even outside, it would be considered a high-level spirit beast over 50,000 years old. Without our spirit rings, it will be difficult to face it head-on. You take the lead in attacking, and I'll assist. I won't hold you back. If we can find an opportunity to knock it over, we'll immediately run. As long as we escape its pursuit, we should be able to pass this trial."
Chen Yuan didn't respond. Instead, he summoned the Seven Kill Sword. The Ten-Headed Yang Snake's inner core was a valuable treasure—a supreme item among snakes, capable of repelling all serpents. If there was a chance, he intended to kill it.
With a focused gaze, Chen Yuan's killing intent surged like boiling water, enhancing his next attack. He unleashed his full power, slashing out six sword beams that formed the character for "kill" (杀). The character tore through the air with a whistling sound.
The "kill" character moved at incredible speed. Given the Ten-Headed Yang Snake's massive size, it had no chance of dodging and was forced to endure the attack head-on.
"Roar!"
The Ten-Headed Yang Snake let out a pained howl. It thrashed wildly, its once-proud tough skin now torn and bleeding profusely. Overwhelmed by pain, it seemed to go completely berserk.
However, the fact that it wasn't killed in one strike showed just how terrifying the Ten-Headed Yang Snake truly was.
Seeing that Chen Yuan had already attacked and inflicted such severe damage on the snake, Hu Liena decided she couldn't just stand by as a bystander.
Gritting her teeth, she swiftly darted forward, her movements agile and quick. She raised her head and locked eyes with the Ten-Headed Yang Snake, firing two beams of intense white light from her eyes.
This was the materialized spiritual power from her Wisdom Skull Bone. Without the fusion of the Purple Demon Eyes, this was the innate spiritual shock skill of the skull bone, turning spiritual power into a tangible attack.
With a loud bang, the two beams struck the Ten-Headed Yang Snake's head, causing its face to twist grotesquely. The skill from a 60,000-year skull bone wasn't something to be taken lightly.
As the Ten-Headed Yang Snake roared in pain, Hu Liena followed up. She channeled her spirit power into her dagger spirit tool, causing it to extend with a blade of spirit energy.
With a swift motion, she plunged the dagger into one of the snake's eyes, sending it into a frenzy of pain. With a violent shake of its head, it flung Hu Liena away.
The Ten-Headed Yang Snake's strength was immense, and Hu Liena couldn't control her body as she was sent flying toward the abyss.
Chen Yuan, seeing that she had contributed to the fight, flashed forward and caught her, tossing her aside.
Taking advantage of the brief respite, the Ten-Headed Yang Snake unleashed its inner core. Starting from its head, the nine bulging protrusions on its back burst open, releasing a flood of blood-red energy that quickly gathered into a fiery red inner core.
An explosive, destructive aura radiated from the core—hot, domineering, and intense. The world seemed to lose its color, and the air grew thick.
Chen Yuan remained unfazed, even feeling a sense of joy:
"Sword and Man as One!"
In an instant, Chen Yuan was enveloped in sword energy. All his spirit power transformed into sword energy, coursing through his meridians and flowing between his body and the sword.
"Kill Technique!"
He slashed out six more sword beams, forming another "kill" character. However, this time, the character was vastly different from the previous one, its power incomparable.
The "kill" character tore through space, leaving behind dark, void-like traces that seemed to connect to another dimension.
In the blink of an eye, the "kill" character struck the Ten-Headed Yang Snake. Its massive body was torn apart inch by inch, flesh and organs scattering everywhere as its mangled remains plummeted into the abyss.
Only the inner core remained, floating in the air. Chen Yuan reached out, and with a pull of his spiritual power, the core landed in his hand.
Turning around, he saw Hu Liena staring at him in shock, her mouth slightly agape as she muttered in disbelief:
"It's dead... the monster snake is dead. You actually killed it!"
Chen Yuan stored the inner core in his Mirror Dimension with a thought. Standing there, he took a moment to calm the restless sword energy within him. Using the two spirit cores to refine and replenish his energy, he quickly recovered his spirit power. He said indifferently:
"This isn't a place to linger. Don't just stare at me. Recover your spirit power quickly. We'll leave soon."
Hu Liena was almost numb. Killing a high-level spirit beast of at least 50,000 years without using spirit rings—how much strength did that require?
Half an hour later, Chen Yuan and Hu Liena set off again, continuing toward the exit.
They walked endlessly, but the path seemed to have no end. However, as they progressed, they began to see the true face of the Road to Hell.
At the bottom of the seemingly bottomless abyss was a pool of fiery red liquid, like molten lava. The pool radiated intense heat, causing the air around it to distort.
The pool contained vast energy, but it was extremely evil. The source of the malevolent energy that permeated both the City of Slaughter and the Road to Hell was this very pool.
As a result, the poison that induced killing intent and desires was now hundreds, even thousands of times stronger.
Chen Yuan's eyes were blood-red, but upon closer inspection, one could still see a glimmer of rationality. He tightly suppressed the killing intent within him, refusing to let it take control.
While Chen Yuan could still maintain control, Hu Liena was in a much worse state. Her physical strength, spirit power, and mental energy hadn't fully recovered. Although her head spirit bone helped stabilize her mind, the erosion of killing intent was driving her to the brink of madness.
Staring at Chen Yuan's back, her eyes were filled with killing intent, as if she was about to attack at any moment.
However, Chen Yuan's icy voice cut through the air:
"If you keep looking at me like that, I won't hesitate to kill you. I said I'd take you out of the Road to Hell, but I didn't specify whether you'd be alive or dead."
His words were like a bucket of cold water poured over Hu Liena's head, snapping her back to reality. She suppressed the resentment in her heart, realizing that the killing intent had nearly driven her mad. Her actions weren't her own.
Caught between the erosion of the Road to Hell's killing intent and Chen Yuan's cold threats, Hu Liena's spirit was on the verge of collapse. The killing intent urged her to attack Chen Yuan, but she knew he could kill her in an instant.
It seemed that no matter what, she was doomed to die. Under the relentless mental torment, Hu Liena finally broke.
Kneeling on the ground, she gritted her teeth and begged:
"Please... take me out. I can't control myself anymore. Knock me out. After I pass out, you can do whatever you want to me... just take me out of here..."
