TEN YEARS
He would never forget the time it happened because that was when he got his incurable scars that led to his stigmatism.
Till he grew up he had to bear with it but he still couldn't figure out what happened that day, all he remembered was that he was running down the stairs then he slipped.
That was a kind of injury that a normal human would either die from it or fall into a comatose state without any hope for survival since the stairs was quite high and he was running on it.
Besides, the fragile bone of a seven year old definitely couldn't withstand falling headfirst on the staircase made of polished tiles.
But the miracle and fact was that he actually survived, but that didn't change the fact that he still couldn't figure out what happened back then.
His parents weren't aware of what happened to him and because the wound had already scabbed before they arrived no one knew what happened and perhaps he would discover the reason why he had survived back then.
---------------------------------------------------`
"Ten years ago, approximately 0.001% of the population on Earth died, this equates to about 73,000 people in a single day, and that was also the period when the changes started occurring in humans across the world although by that time we were unaware of any occurrences."
"Although by that time there were no immense or obvious changes, just a slight increase in strength and some minor additions, most didn't even find anything strange with their body." Eric said then sat down looking straight into David's eyes.
"But everything changed during the consecutive transitions after that, during the next five years after the first one four different transitions occurred and during those changes all the organisms on the planet had to adjust with some mutating just like during the first time."
"But the thing is, those who had mutated during the first transition didn't have to go through elimination process of mutating again but directly combined the new mutation with the former ones become even stronger and deadlier than before!"
When David heard this, his heart suddenly skipped a beat, if those people had been actively training on their powers since then and combined with the multiple transitions during all those years then by now they could possibly overturn an entire country.
Then when his thoughts were starting to go astray Eric "No, their power haven't reached the extent where they can act rashly, not yet."
David frowned then asked "Can you read my mind or something? And besides how do you know all this and why are you telling me?"
"Yes, reading people's minds is one of my abilities and this isn't some top secret knowledge anymore, perhaps when the first transitions occurred it was still top secret but now, not anymore."
"And for your information, I knew you felt confident when coming because you could at least take us down or run away but I would advise you to be more cautious because those you've met are those who mutated recently and most of them are the mixed rag tags"
"I'm not sure of what level of power you are now but if you try to engage rashly in the future without knowing anything about your opponent you could end up finding yourself in the afterlife."
"You see, when I said the first mutants can't upturn a country anyhow it's not because they don't have the ability to but because they are being watched by the others with similar or even greater ability."
"So whenever you act in the future, always remember there is someone out there that has the ability to crush you in an instant."
"My greatest advice to you now is for you to lay low, grow your powers, get accustomed to them and don't overstep your boundaries, the period between the transitions is getting short with every one that occurs and the compiling effect is becoming greater."
"The casualties are piling up since most of the population can't withstand the changes, the mutant count is also increasing at the same time."
"Both the land, air and sea creatures are getting more deadly than before, so make sure to stay away from strange wild animals in the future, I will take care of the incident in the school and make sure no trails to you are found."
Eric said then threw a small satellite phone to him "Keep this with you all the time, if there is anything urgent I will contact you."
After this he turned around and waked towards the staircase without looking back.
"Hey! I didn't even agree yet, what do you mean by this?"
Eric stopped then looked back into his eyes and said "Everything I just told you might not be top confidential information but that are not things the masses should be aware of, if you insist on being a freelance then I'm afraid I will have to take you with me."
Looking at the weird psychopathic smile on Eric's face David was shocked at how fast his expression could change.
'Why are all the mutants I've met so weird?' he thought then decided to let it go but not before asking one last question.
"How many transitions have you gone through?"
"Five" Eric answered without looking back.
