Chapter 27 - Greenhouse

She recorded all of the task he has set himself to do, first he was supposed to deal with the food issue. He got up and left. Where are you going? She asked. We need sand.

There was no sand deposit nearby, the closest one was the beach sand 350 km way. The part they were in was in the southwest of the mountain ranges. It was 350km away from the sea.

He was going to get the sand himself this time. He ran out of the mountains. Took out his flying ship and flew west towards the sea. The sea was covered In ice, not completely flozen over but the beach sand was completely white due to snow.

Using the law of fire he melted the snow and what was left around him was wet sand. He touched the ground and a large amount of sand disappeared. He had transferred it into his storage ring.

He left a crater on the beach. He flew back home. He took out the sand, it was a lot of sand. It was wet so he wanted to dry it up first. It didn't take long for the sand to dry up.

He went to talk to An about his idea. He already had a sketch of it. It was a glass house. She looked confused, why would we need a glass house? I think these wood and concrete houses are doing just fine, she said.

No this is a green house. He explained it to her and she looked quite happy. We don't have sunlight though, with the dark clouds covering the sky I doubt we will have if anytime soon.

We don't need natural sunlight, that where runes come in, we just need to draw light runes on the ceiling. Won't light made by runes be too intense though.

We'll, well they'll draw mortal grade runes that replicate the rank one light spell. You know what that spell is right? Yes I read your book of spells. Good, then you can get people to work on it.

Wait, you not gonna do it yourself? No why would I do that? Well it was your idea. Yeah but I'm neither the leader of this place nor the one who'll starve to death now am I?

She sighed, well more work for me I guess, she really had a lot going on, he almost felt sorry for her but atleast she had Yamiko, that girl was really efficient. Fabro felt like he's been overworking her but she had been smiling ever since they talked about a raise so he guess she's fine.

Wait, where would she even use the money though? Well that her problem. He went to look for her. Hey boss, she said happily running towards him. Is it payday? What? You just started yesterday. No I've been doing this for five years.

Yeah I guess you right, he said with contemplation but it still not pay day. She looked dejected, well what do you want then? Her tone took a 180. I need to know what my next task is.

Shouldn't you remember that? Mxm,she hurrumphed before taking out a small book. Water, your next task is water. Mmm I guess water is more urgent than guns.

He left her after that, he need to work on melting the rivers. So far they had been surviving by melting the snow and and having few water mages use water magic.

It was good but if their population increase then it would no longer be sustainable, except for snow, it doesn't seem to be ending any time soon. He decided to pass this great opportunity to the other smiths and rune enchanters.

He wasn't lazy, no that not it at all, he was just a kind generous humble crafter who takes pleasure in giving others opportunities. He drew the blue prints of the device he intended to make.

His intention was to give it to the others but then decided against it. It was best if they figure out themselves how to make it or come up with a different solution.

He told them he needed them to create something to unfreeze the river. The river was large, over 2 kilometres wide and about 50 metres at it deepest, the other river on the other mountain was even larger.

He watched as they racked their heads. Rove then came up with the idea to create something like the heater. He watched scrabble on a piece of paper.

What he showed them was something similar to his own design, it looked a bit rougher though, testament to his lack of experience. He was brute forcing the issue.

The results would be the same just a bit less effective and elegant than his own. They would inscribe simple fire runes on a metal pilla, they don't even need to create a formation, the runes don't need to work together they just need to make metal hot.

It was crude and inefficient, wastes energy but it still worked which was good enough for him. He left them to it. It been a few months since the start of winter, it was time to prepare for the true nightmare of it, the void thralls

The villagers were growing stronger but the mana was increasing faster as well. If the thralls arrive before they are ready, things will be bad, all they've built so far would crumble so he would make sure to prepare and not be caught off guard.

So far there had not been a single acolyte that had risen, winter effect the world laws themselves, it makes it harder to comprehend will, intent and laws. People would assume with the increase in mana growing stronger would be easier and faster.

Technically that is true but only at the initiate realm, beyond that it becomes harder, incredibly harder so that why even after all this time only one had touched upon will just not comprehended it enough to breakthrough to acolyte realm.
