Byrne took Maker along with Sonoma, and you didn't stand in his way. To be fair, it's unlikely you could have stopped him even if you wanted to. At least that's what you told yourself.
You descended into the basement where the rest of the pack was waiting impatiently for their Packleader. None of them knew that you'd just given Sonoma up, and you had no intention of telling them. Several minutes later, the panic room's electronic console declared that the invaders had left the camp's perimeter. Maker had been right: once Rivera had Sonoma in hand, she'd pulled her troops back and let you live.
Sonoma's right-hand wolf Onyx and his companions spent hours combing the camp for Sonoma, but came up empty-handed. Eventually even he had to admit that she was gone. He believed that she'd sacrificed herself for the good of the pack, and you were content to let him believe that.
Once you were ready to leave, the elders revealed that they had a plan. The camp was no longer safe; you had to leave. Better to follow the elders than to have no plan at all.
