In the system, the standard video turned out to be another Naruto fragment. As expected, Naruto signals were plentiful in this world.
"Hopefully, it's something good." Tengen said hesitantly.
The morning's censored magazine debacle had shaken his faith in his luck, but this video seemed legit, a proper Naruto clip.
He recalled the last Naruto fragment, which gave him the Elite Genin Experience Pack.
"Here's hoping for a winner." Tengen rubbed his hands. "Wait, better wash them first."
Moments later, with clean hands, Tengen began the extraction.
He'd done his part; now it was up to fate.
[Ding! Congratulations, you've obtained a Two-Tomoe Sharingan!]
The system's voice came like a heavenly chorus making Tengen burst into laughter.
"I'm totally the chosen one!" He cheered. The Sharingan was one of Naruto's most powerful kekkei genkai, capable of evolving into the Mangekyo or even the Rinnegan. It was absolutely epic.
"Use it now!" Tengen shouted. Why waste such a prize? A two-tomoe Sharingan already grants abilities like seeing through ninjutsu, copying techniques, and vastly improved dynamic vision.
Before him, two spinning pupils materialized, morphing into crimson beams that merged with his eyes. A tingling sensation spread, followed by a faint ache.
Soon, the pain faded. Tengen opened his eyes, revealing the Uchiha's signature blood-red Sharingan, two tomoe spinning within. If anyone knew an eight-year-old had a two-tomoe Sharingan, the Uchiha would hail him as their greatest prodigy ever.
"But…" Tengen paused. "My body doesn't have Uchiha blood. My parents didn't have Sharingan either."
This realization hit hard. He couldn't use the Sharingan openly, or the Uchiha would question its origin.
They might kill him or interrogate him brutally.
Konoha's leadership wouldn't care about a missing genin student, especially an orphan.
Like Orochimaru's experiments, which went unnoticed for years, death was commonplace in the ninja world.
"Still, it's a trump card." Tengen said, standing. He glanced at a mirror, watching the crimson tomoe fade back to normal eyes.
"Sharingan control feels natural, and the chakra drain's manageable." He noted, unlike Kakashi, whose Sharingan use was taxing.
Tengen's Sharingan was a true kekkei genkai, integrated into his body, with potential to grow into three tomoe, Mangekyo, or beyond.
...
Over the next few days, Tengen balanced academy life with scouring Konoha for signals. Most ordinary signals yielded junk, but a few were useful.
At a Konoha training ground, Tengen formed hand signs and took a deep breath. "Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
A perfect clone appeared beside him, one of the useful gains from recent signals. Unlike the Clone Jutsu, Shadow Clones could attack, though they vanished if hit.
They also split the user's chakra evenly, risking exhaustion or even death if overused.
Best used sparingly by those with low chakra.
"Definitely gotta be careful." Tengen said, pale from the effort. He dispelled the clone. "My chakra's at genin peak, but this jutsu's still a stretch."
"Leaf Whirlwind!" Tengen's legs became a blur, striking a nearby wooden post.
Bam! Bam!
The post shattered under his kicks, scattering debris. His taijutsu was now formidable.
"Wow, Tengen, you're amazing! Wanna spar again?" An excitable boy with thick brows and gleaming teeth appeared, grinning.
Tengen's face twitched. This was Might Guy, someone he'd met training here. Guy had latched onto him after seeing his skills, and Tengen couldn't shake him.
"Guy, I've got stuff to do today. Let's spar next time." Tengen said, making his escape. His strength was roughly on par with Guy's, and a drawn-out spar wasn't worth the effort.
"Alright, Tengen, I'll wait!" Guy flashed his dazzling smile. "I'll just run a few laps around Konoha!"
With that, he zipped off.
"Guy, don't turn your Kakashi obsession on me." Tengen muttered, shaking his head.
He needed to get out of here.
"Tengen." A graceful woman called, stepping into view.
"Tsunade-sama!" Tengen said, recognizing one of Konoha's Sannin.
"Any idea what's up with Jiraiya? He's been holed up at home lately, and when he comes out, he looks drained." Tsunade said, puzzled.
"Uh…" Tengen froze. Could he say Jiraiya was obsessed with those magazines? Probably not.
"No clue. Maybe he'll snap out of it soon?" Tengen shrugged.
"Hm. If you've got time, check on him. He seems fond of you." Tsunade said.
"Got it."
"I'm off then." Tsunade said, leaving.
"A signal!" Tengen's eyes sharpened, checking the system's map. A standard video signal had appeared.
"Standard quality, but it's in the forest outside Konoha."
