Chapter 14 - [14] Legends

[Ding! Mission to eliminate the Suna-nins completed. Reward: Half a standard Dragon Ball video fragment.]

The mechanical system's voice chimed in Tengen's ear.

Tengen nodded, satisfied. Not only had he gained Armament Haki, but he'd also secured a Dragon Ball fragment. Half a fragment was still a win.

"That took a lot out of me though." Tengen glancing at the three dead Suna-nins. His Sharingan had faded; he'd used it to trap the last ninja in a genjutsu, making him think he'd escaped when he was rooted in place.

Tengen had effortlessly beheaded him, the ninja's head soaring as he briefly regained clarity, realizing his death.

The Suna-nin never knew what those crimson eyes were, dying in frustration.

The entire Sunagakure spy team had been wiped out.

"Whew, that was draining." Tengen assessed himself. His chakra was nearly depleted, and his stamina was shot.

"Armament Haki eats up physical energy." He clenching his fist. "Looks like boosting my stamina will enhance Haki's power too."

Without special enhancements, improving his physical strength was tough, especially since his eight-year-old body wasn't fully developed.

Though his skills were mastered, Tengen could still refine them.

The skills had limits, like his two-tomoe Sharingan.

With it, he could potentially evolve to three tomoe or even Mangekyo, relying on his bloodline.

That was a distant goal, but Tengen had to plan ahead.

He had no siblings, so an Eternal Mangekyo would depend on his system.

"Still, solid haul." Tengen grinned. With Armament Haki, he could briefly contend with top-tier chunin, maybe even kill one if luck was on his side.

That was his current ceiling, though.

"Let's check their loot." Tengen eyed the three corpses. They were Sunagakure chunin, one a near-jounin elite. They had to have something valuable.

As an ungraduated student, Tengen was short on cash.

"Hm?" His gaze shifted to a direction where four ninjas approached swiftly.

A blond young man, two boys, and a girl.

Tengen's eyes lit up, recognizing the iconic quartet, a legendary group in the Naruto world.

Minato Namikaze, Obito Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake, and Rin Nohara.

Minato, the future Fourth Hokage.

Kakashi, the eventual Sixth Hokage.

Rin, though fated to die in the Third Shinobi World War, would spark the rise of a formidable villain, Obito, tied to the Kyubi attack and the Fourth War.

These four were deeply entwined with Naruto's history.

"Who are you?" Tengen asked warily.

"Hey, kid, check our headbands! We're obviously Konoha ninjas." Obito said brashly with his goggles glinting. "You a Konoha ninja too?"

"Konoha ninja?" Tengen nodded. "I'm a student at the Academy, but I'm applying to graduate this year."

"An academy student?" Obito gaped. "So you killed these Suna-nins?"

He'd noticed the Sunagakure headbands on the bodies.

Suna-nins in the Land of Fire were at least chunin, genin wouldn't survive the journey.

"What if they're genin?" Obito wondered wildly.

"I'm Minato Namikaze, a Konoha jounin. These are my students, Obito Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake, and Rin Nohara." Minato said with a warm smile. "Mind if we examine the bodies?"

"Not at all, Minato-sama." Tengen agreed.

"Good. Kakashi, check for anything useful." Minato instructed.

"Yes, Sensei." Kakashi said, unbothered, inspecting the corpses for clues.

"So, what's your name? Killing three genin is impressive, almost as good as me!" Obito bounding over to Tengen with a grin.

"Tengen." He introduced himself.

"Tengen, huh? How old are you?"

"Eight."

"Eight? Younger than me! Call me Obito-senpai!" Obito laughed. "That's some skill for your age."

Tengen stared, bemused by Obito's instant familiarity.

This was the teenage Obito Uchiha?

"Obito, Tengen's way better than you." Kakashi's voice cut in. "These Suna-nins were chunin."

"What?!" Obito's jaw dropped.

An academy student killing three chunin? Was this a joke?

"Indeed. They were Sunagakure spies. We found documents on them that'll help root out other spies in Konoha." Minato nodded with a smile. "But, Tengen, how'd you run into them?"

"I was just wandering and stumbled into this." Tengen inwardly grumbled. He'd only come for a signal.

Encountering Suna-nins was pure chance.

"Haha, you've earned some credit, Tengen!" Minato chuckled.

In his mind, Tengen might be a prodigy on par with Kakashi who at eleven was nearly jounin-level.
