Kaido had always been there for Yuto—blocking bullies, ruining Reina's plans, and keeping him safe.
But Reina had had enough.
She sat in her usual spot with her followers, twirling a lock of her dark hair between her fingers. "I have to do something for my big brother," she murmured, staring at the schoolyard below.
Her friends exchanged uneasy glances. "What do you mean?" one of them asked.
Reina's lips curled into a smirk. "Kaido keeps ruining my fun. As long as he's around, Yuto will always have someone to run back to."
Her fingers tightened around the pen in her hand. "But after I break their bond, Yuto will have no one."
One of her followers hesitated. "But… Yuto agrees to everything Kaido says. They're best friends. How will you break that?"
Reina's smirk deepened. "Simple."
She leaned forward, her brown eyes gleaming with mischief.
"I'll make Yuto hate him."
A Carefully Planted Seed
Reina timed her approach perfectly.
It was after school, just after Kaido had walked away from Yuto.
She put on a troubled expression, biting her lip. "Yuto… can I talk to you?"
Yuto blinked at her unusual tone. "Uh… sure?"
Reina hesitated, looking down, as if struggling to say something.
"I know Kaido is your friend… but there's something I've never told you about him."
Yuto frowned. "What are you talking about?"
Reina exhaled softly, as if gathering the courage to speak. "He stole money from our house, Yuto."
Silence.
Yuto felt his stomach twist. "From your house?"
Reina nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. "It broke our family apart. That's why Dad doesn't talk to him anymore. That's why he started using Mom's surname instead."
Yuto's breath caught in his throat.
"Kaido… stole from his own family?"
That didn't sound like Kaido at all.
And yet… Reina's voice, her trembling hands, her soft sadness—it was too convincing.
She gave Yuto a small, sad smile. "I didn't want to believe it either. But I saw it with my own eyes."
Doubt crept into Yuto's mind.
Kaido had always been kind, protective… but Reina wasn't just a random classmate. She was his sister.
She would know him better than anyone, right?
Reina let out a quiet sigh. "I just… I don't want you to get hurt, Yuto."
Yuto stared at the ground, his world shifting under his feet.
And just like that, Reina's trap had been set.
