There's a phrase called "Sichuan dogs barking at the sun."
It refers to the humid air in the Bashu Basin, surrounded by mountains, where the moisture on the plains is difficult to disperse. Dogs rarely see the sun, so when they do, they bark at it out of curiosity.
Sichuan's frequent rainfall is widely known, with an especially long and incessant rainy season each year—most notably in June, July, and August, when heavy downpours occur regularly.
