Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

Ella watched as the doctors tried hard to control Kael. A nurse escorted her out the room, comforting her that she isn't emotionally stable to watch the event unfolding.

Ella sat on the bench outside the room. She hoped that the antidote she had given to him was going to work. Her mind reeled about one thing as she sat on the chair. Why did the leader not want her to kill Kael yet? What role did he have in this plan of hers?

She couldn't blame the leader or ask her any questions. She had always been discreet, and she was also old and wise, so she knew exactly why she had made things turn out this way.

"His blood pressure rose, but we're still trying to see what we can do." The doctor said as he jolted her from her thoughts.

"But would he be okay?" She asked the man.

"He would." The man assured her before leaving.

Ella continued sitting outside the room as she waited eagerly for the nurses to have everything under control.

She entered the room and met Kael still lying unconsciously on the bed. She just kept looking at him, wondering if the antidote she gave him had not yielded results.

Alexander came into the room, with Chris and two other men following behind him.

"Luna, he's going to be okay." Alexander addressed Ella. "He has always been a strong man, he'd scale through." Alexander comforted her.

"I know. I can't lose him." Ella said.

"You won't." Alexander assured her.

"We can spend the night here, taking care of him so that you can go home." Chris said to her.

"Alright." Ella responded and stood up from the seat. Her body was already getting tired and she needed some rest. By tomorrow morning, she would know what to do if the medicine didn't yield results.

She looked at Kael one last time and whispered to herself, "Dont ruin my plans."

She picked her bag and walked over to the car, driving away from the hospital towards the packhouse.

As she got home, she headed to the bathroom and got herself a warm bath to cool her temperature.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Chris and Alexander stayed by Kael's side. Suddenly, he started convulsing and shaking vigorously.

The both of them alerted the doctors and they came to Kael's aid. After a while of the doctor and nurses trying hard to put him in a stable state. He finally calmed down to a great extent and was breathing normally.

"He opened his eyes," Chris shouted in excitement as he rushed to where the practitioners gathered around Kael.

Alexander also stood up as he heard Chris. Kael was truly awake. He blinked his eyes twice and continued staring at the ceiling.

"Where am I?" Kael asked rhetorically and received an answer as he saw himself surrounded by people with white coats. He knew that he was in the hospital.

"How did I end up here?" He asked a second question as he turned towards his men.

"We recommend that you get more rest." The doctor said as he continued checking Kael's vital signs.

He laid on the bed and the doctor continued examining him. "Everything seems normal. It seems like it happened so fast." The man said, adjusting his spectacles.

"Alpha, it seems like you'd soon be discharged." The doctor added.

The doctor left the room, leaving Kael alone with his men.

"I saw it. It's not a normal wolf." Kael told Alexander and Chris.

"What does it look like, sir?" Chris asked curiously.

Kael placed a hand on his chin in thought. He wasn't sure of the features of the creature. But as it held his neck, he could feel that his hands and claws were different from a normal beast. "Or could it just be a huge rogue werewolf?" He asked himself.

"The basement was dark. I could see it clearly. But I know that it deliberately wanted to kill me."

"That note was written specifically for you. How did it know that you were going to come to that house?" Alexander thought deeply.

"It seems like that attacks are planned by someone who knows our every move." Kael came to a conclusion.

He tried standing up from the bed, but Alexander held him down. "You still need some rest." He said, urging him to sit back on the bed.

"I can't keep lying here when there's an evil that wants to kill me and my pack." Kael objected and stood up from the bed.

He took the tubes that were attached to his body for aid and yanked it off his body. His wounds had begun healing and in a few seconds, there wasn't a scar left on his body.

"Whatever this evil is, we must find it and end it."

Ella had already heard news of how he had recovered. She rushed to the hospital, and bumped into his room where he was talking with his men.

"Baby, you're okay," she exclaimed and rushed into his arms for a tight hug. "I was so worried about you. Please don't scare me like that."

"I'm fine now, babe." Kael responded, and kissed her on the forehead. "I also missed you."

Alexander and Chris, seeing that the couples were having their moment, left the room to give them some private time.

They remained in each other's arms for a while, before Ella pulled herself away.

"What's wrong babe?" He asked, coming closer to her.

"You called her name this morning. You were screaming for Fiona." Ella folded her arms across her chest.

"It was just a nightmare and nothing else. I promise never to think of her." Kael assured Ella and pulled her back into his arms.

"I love you," He added and placed a light kiss on her cheeks.

"I love you too." She responded.

"I thought of something recently." He said, and Ella raised her head to look into his eyes.

"I want you to be more than just my girlfriend. I want to officially make you my Luna."

Ella's eyes widened and she tried hard to suppress the urge to scream in excitement.

"Are you serious, babe?" She asked as she detached herself from his body and stared at him.

"Yes babe. What else can I wish for than you as my Luna."

"Of course. So we'd have a wedding?"

"Yes."

Ella reached out to him and hugged him once more. It wasn't that she loved him. She was just happy that her plan was falling in perfect places. With her as the Luna, she would have higher authority and would be able to control the pack better.

"We'd invite the neighboring packs and have a big wedding. I'll do anything for you, my love." He continued to flatter her.

The smile on her face was broad. Afterwards, she walked to the entrance and picked a bag that she brought along with her.

"I brought food for you. You know you didn't eat in the morning."

Kael took the food from her and sat on the bed. As he ate, he complimented her cooking as the food was delicious.

She watched him as he continued eating.

"You'll never think of her again, now that you've started eating food laced with my portions." She chuckled inwardly.
