The divine magic talent was a game-changer for Amon. The Phoenix Force, Chaos Magic, and Fairy Magic were the three ancient energies, each intimately familiar with the others, and the perfect mediums for magical cultivation. Possessing even a fragment of any of these energies granted immense power.
Now, with the divine magic talent added to the mix, Amon's progress would be meteoric. He was a magical cultivation powerhouse, a combination of divine talent and the Phoenix Force. Even Ned Leeds's talent paled in comparison.
The most incredible aspect was that he didn't need to draw power from other dimensional deities. In the Marvel universe, magic wasn't created out of thin air. It was drawn from other dimensional deities, a process that came with a price.
Mages and the members of Kamar-Taj drew their power from Vishanti, the dimensional deity. The cost of borrowing power from Vishanti was minimal, hence the term "white magic." Black magic, on the other hand, demanded a heavy price, often the sacrifice of one's soul.
Amon, however, didn't have to pay any price.
"Wait! Something's wrong!" Amon's smile vanished as a crucial realization dawned on him. "What good is divine magic talent if I don't have any spellbooks?"
It was like having a gun without bullets. He could use the Phoenix Force to counter Wanda's Chaos Magic, but that was just raw energy, not actual spellcasting. He could harness the energy, but he didn't know how to use it.
"I need to find a solution," Amon muttered, sinking into a chair.
"If I remember correctly, the Sanctum Sanctorum is in New York!"
He recalled that Kamar-Taj had a sanctum in Manhattan. And according to the timeline, the future Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange, would be there. The Sanctum Sanctorum would definitely have the spellbooks he needed.
The Sanctum Sanctorum was a crucial sanctum, Doctor Strange's main base of operations. It served as a training ground, a repository of knowledge, and a shield against evil forces.
"But how do I get in?" Amon pondered.
He remembered that a portion of the Sanctum Sanctorum was open to the public. It was possible to buy a ticket and join a tour. Kamar-Taj, though secluded, needed to make money. Maybe he could get a glimpse of those spellbooks.
...
...
Later that afternoon, Amon found himself outside a building in Manhattan, its ancient aura radiating through the air.
"Everyone, slow down, don't rush, stay in line, and follow me one by one," a portly man with a chubby face and a friendly smile shouted, waving a small red flag as he led a group towards the building.
He looked like a tour guide, but his attire was remarkably old-fashioned, resembling the robes of a monk. It seemed out of place in modern society, but everything made sense when Amon saw the sign at the entrance: "Welcome to the Magical Library Tour."
"Wow, even their uniforms are so immersive!" a little girl exclaimed, her eyes wide with wonder as she clung to her mother's hand.
The visitors were awestruck by the sight before them. The ancient building was unlike anything they had ever seen.
"Wong..." Amon trailed behind the group, his gaze fixed on the portly man leading the tour. He couldn't believe that the Grand Master of Kamar-Taj was personally guiding tourists. The world was a strange and wonderful place.
Wong led the group into the sanctum. The air was thick with the scent of ancient history. The lobby was adorned in an old-world European style, with a magnificent vaulted ceiling. Around the library, apprentices in monk robes were busy cleaning.
"Everyone," Wong stopped and turned to the tourists. "The books on the first floor are open for reading, but please be careful not to damage them. You will be responsible for any damage."
"They just let people read these magic books?" Amon was taken aback.
But then he realized why. Even Doctor Strange, a genius, needed guidance from the Grand Master to understand the books. Ordinary people, with no magical talent, would be completely lost.
The books on the first floor were probably unimportant. Even if someone copied them, it wouldn't matter. Wong wouldn't have mentioned a fine for damage if the books were valuable.
The visitors, mostly magic enthusiasts, dispersed, eager to explore the shelves. They were curious about the books used for magical learning, but most of them glanced at the books and put them back down. They couldn't understand the content.
Amon joined the others, reaching for a book on the shelf. He flipped through the pages, his eyes scanning the text.
Wong watched from a distance, his face a picture of disappointment. He sighed, shaking his head. True magical talent was rare.
"What's the matter? You can't expect a bunch of kids and teenagers to understand ancient texts," a voice said from behind him.
Wong jumped, his cheeks twitching. He turned to see a tall, thin man in a red cloak standing silently behind him. The man was in his thirties, with a slightly tanned face and a hint of British elegance in his movements.
"Stephen, you're so quiet!" Wong exclaimed. He hadn't even noticed Stephen Strange's arrival.
"I came to take a look," Strange replied, his blue eyes scanning the crowd. "Even I couldn't teach myself magic. What makes you think they can?"
He had a right to be arrogant. He was the most promising student of the Ancient One. In his opinion, Wong was wasting his time. He had learned magic quickly, but only with the guidance of a master. These ordinary people wouldn't be able to teach themselves, even if they had some magical talent.
"I'm just trying to find some potential," Wong said, shrugging. It was a long shot, but who knew?
"Don't waste your time. You can help me buy a sandwich later. The money..." Strange searched his pockets, his face turning serious. "Just deduct it from their tour fees."
"You..."
Suddenly, a loud buzzing sound filled the sanctum.
"Whoa! What's happening?"
"Look! Magic is real!"
"Mom, it's so cool! I want to learn magic too!"
The visitors gasped in amazement, their eyes wide with wonder. This was the first time they had witnessed magic in real life.
"What's going on?" Strange frowned, his gaze fixed on the source of the noise.
His blue eyes widened in shock as he saw the sight before him.
A dazzling golden light, like a shooting star in the night sky, formed a circular portal in the air. Standing before the portal was a young man with a calm expression.
It was a dimensional portal!
And even more shocking...
He had opened the portal with his bare hands! He hadn't used the Eye of Agamotto!
