Chapter 11 - EGLM-10: The Unfathomable Talent [Bonus Chapter]

"What's going on? Why is there a dimensional portal?" Stephen stared intently at the unfolding scene, his pupils dilating, his focus solely on the young man's hands.

He could clearly see that the young man wasn't wearing any rings. He had opened a dimensional portal with his bare hands? Was the world going insane?

"Wong, tell me this is a dream!" Stephen exclaimed, his voice laced with disbelief. He was starting to think he hadn't woken up yet.

The Eye of Agamotto was crucial for mages to focus their magical energy. Without it, controlling magic was nearly impossible. Unless you had an extraordinary understanding of magic and a natural affinity for it.

But...

That was just theoretical. How could someone like that exist? He was a magical prodigy!

Wong took a moment to collect himself before replying, "You're not dreaming."

He had just pinched himself hard to make sure. He couldn't believe it. A magical prodigy had actually appeared!

Wong's eyes bulged out of his head. He had been casually looking for talent during his tours, just to pass the time. He never expected to find a magical prodigy.

He was stunned speechless, his mind blank for a moment.

The tourists surrounding the sanctum were mesmerized by the dazzling display of light.

"It's so beautiful! I can't believe someone actually cast magic!"

"I remember him. He was on the tour with us!"

"I thought those books were fake. I didn't realize someone could actually learn magic!"

"That's not right. If that's the case, I should be able to do magic too!"

Most of the visitors had come to the magical library for entertainment. They knew there were magical books, but they didn't take it too seriously. But now, they realized that someone in their group could actually use magic.

They all tried to follow Amon's actions, but only those who had a natural affinity for magic could replicate his feat.

"I can't believe it worked on the first try," Amon muttered, his lips twitching as he gazed at the open dimensional portal.

He had just picked up an ancient magic book, which happened to contain the spell for opening a dimensional portal. He had assumed that he needed the Eye of Agamotto to open it.

He had skimmed the text and attempted the spell, imagining the location of the portal and drawing a circle with his right hand. The golden light had appeared instantly.

He hadn't expected it to be so easy. But he had a hunch that it was because of his innate magical abilities and his divine magic talent.

"First try?"

Although Amon had spoken quietly, his words reached Stephen and Wong.

Stephen nearly collapsed to the ground when he heard those words.

"You're telling me you did it on the first try?"

Stephen distinctly remembered the countless hours he had spent practicing under the Ancient One. He had pushed himself to his physical and mental limits, enduring endless nights of practice. And even then, he had failed. He had only managed to open the portal when he was forced into a desperate situation on a snowy mountain.

And this young man was saying he did it on the first try?

How dare he say that!

He was a monster, a prodigy beyond compare!

"Unbelievable. Is this what true talent looks like?"

Wong's Adam's apple bobbed as he stared at Stephen with a strange expression. The Ancient One had called Stephen a once-in-a-century talent. But compared to this young man, he was nothing.

For a moment, he questioned whether he had brought the wrong person back. The Sorcerer Supreme should have been this young man.

"He's a monster!"

Wong had lived for over a century and had never seen anything like this. It was beyond shocking, beyond words. It was explosive!

"Who is this guy?"

Stephen took a deep breath, his voice trembling. His mind raced, but he couldn't figure out who this young man was. If this was his first time, the Ancient One would have to change her mind about Stephen being the next Sorcerer Supreme.

As they were in awe, Amon closed the portal with a thought. The shimmering golden light disappeared.

"I think it's supposed to be like this..."

Amon frowned, recalling the words in the book. He stretched out his hands and waved them.

The temperature in the sanctum plummeted instantly.

"Blizzard!"

Amon took a deep breath and muttered the spell.

The next second, a massive golden circle appeared above the library. The golden light filled the entire room.

Everyone's eyes widened in amazement.

Whoosh!

Snow began to fall from the sky. It quickly turned into a blizzard. The wind whipped through the library, scattering papers and books.

The visitors ducked, struggling to resist the gale. The temperature dropped from 18 degrees Celsius to minus 3 degrees Celsius in an instant. The library was engulfed in a blizzard, a whiteout.

The only thing visible was a blanket of white.
