Yes/No
Reading the system's message, Garret made his decision.
Without hesitation.
Yes
* Push-ups x200
* Sit-ups x200
* Run 10 kilometers
* Read 200 pages and be able to summarize them
* Fight in the simulation training room for a full 2 hours
Garret nodded in acknowledgment, his gaze fixed on the blue box floating in the classroom.
A few minutes passed, Professor Murphy spoke up, causing all the students who were interacting with their systems to pause.
"From this point on, students, I will release you to attend your chosen elective classes."
As he finished speaking, all the students stood up.
Bowing to Professor Murphy before dispersing to their respective elective courses.
――✧ Chamber of the 1st academy day ✧――
Garret and Leon were making their way to their chosen elective classes. The hallway, with its wooden floor and classroom-lined walls.
It was teeming with students, a crowded and lively atmosphere.
Cubie-chan floated along behind them, her surface emitting a soft, translucent glow.
It's a good thing the principal allowed Garret to bring me to the academy.
Muttered in her thoughts.
A few seconds passed, and Leon pulled out his phone, opening the academy's app to register for his elective classes.
"Hey, Garret, what electives did you pick?"
Hearing his friend's question, Garret turned his sharp gaze towards him. "Oh, it's simple. I just chose all of them." He said with a soft smile.
Once he finished selecting, Leon put his arm around Garret's neck as they walked down the hallway.
"Whoa, seriously? You don't have to push yourself like I do, though," Garret said, patting Leon on the back.
"Hey, I'm not pushing myself. Without you guys, there's no Leon, right, Cubie?"
"That's right, Leon. You're absolutely correct, you golden-haired fellow!"
Cubie-chan chimed in, nudging Leon's back with a holographic hand.
――✧ Chamber of the elected subject, but who care ✧――
The three of them had now entered the classroom. The room shimmered with a golden-yellow light, causing Cubie-chan to squint.
Garret and Leon noticed a pair of desks placed at the front of the room. A digital pen and a brown book rested on them.
Without hesitation, they went and sat down.
Normally, classrooms used for specific subjects are more modern than the homeroom used for morning sessions.
"Alright everyone, please open your books to page 18. We're going to cover the basics of Authority usage."
As the professor finished speaking, the sound of pages turning filled the room.
"While you're opening your books, go ahead and activate your Systems as well."
Hearing this, Garret opened his System.
The blue box floated into view on his left.
He chuckled softly at Leon.
Who was still muttering under his breath, seemingly arguing with his own System.
He couldn't speak loudly, or others might think he was insane.
"By the way, Professor," Leon interjected, sounding exasperated, "why does the System keep making snide remarks at me?"
Too lazy to argue with the AI, he sought an explanation from the professor.
Rubbing his forehead in frustration.
Ignoring Leon's complaint, the professor continued,
"Now, I'd like everyone to try pressing the 'check status' button on your Systems.
This will allow you to see your current status levels."
Hearing this, Leon slapped his forehead with a loud thwack. His eyes narrowing in annoyance.
Good grief, when will this class be over?
Indeed, while there were only four main subjects.
Each class lasted for two and a half hours.
On Garret's side, his status information appeared before him when he checked:
` HP: 1
ATK: 1
DEF: 1
Daily Quests Selected: In Progress
Don't push yourself too hard, Garret. Take good care of your health.>
"Oh, thank you very much," Garret said, offering a small smile.
Cubie-chan, seeing this, whispered next to Leon's ear,
"It seems the System reflects the image of the person, doesn't it?"
"Ugh, Cubie! I'm stressed, leave me alone!" Leon said, though annoyed, he still clicked on his System:
DEF: 10, but with this look, he'd cry from a rubber bullet.
Daily Quest: Too lazy to even try.
Try to make yourself useful for once, Leon.>
"Did you notice something?
Your Systems reflect your image that how others perceive you, right?"
The professor asked, gesturing towards Garret. Who was already engrossed in a book.
And Leon, who was still arguing with his System.
"Yes, Professor," Leon replied with a bitter tone.
"Haha, it's alright, Leon. And as you can see in the book.
There are methods to measure Authority rank and Authority potential. Using the System as well," the professor said, taking a small breath. "For this class, your assignment is to tell everyone what your Authority potential level is."
As soon as he finished speaking, the students began working. Garret, who was on page 260, flipped back to page 18.
"Look at this, Leon,"
Garret said, nudging his friend who was sitting next to him.
"To check your potential, you use the digital pen to draw the rings of Saturn, and then the system will scan the potential energy within it."
As Garret finished speaking, they both nodded and drew the rings of Saturn in their books.
Suddenly, a bright light emanated from the books, and a whooshing sound filled the room.
Potential Rank: Authority Expert
But remember that potential is calculated based on the present moment only. It can change at any time in the future.>
After scanning his own potential, Leon took a picture with his phone, striking some kind of pose. "Woohoo! Asami, what did you get?" he called out to the girl sitting in the corner of the room.
"Authority Expert, I think," she replied.
"Same as me! But wait till you see my friend Garret's!" Leon boasted, but Asami just kept her head down.
Garret? That blue-haired guy. He talked to me once before.
Well, I should got to know him better.
Meanwhile Garret.
The light emanating from his book was even brighter, filling the room, and all the students watched him intently.
But then—
When Leon saw this, he was shocked, gasping for air with his mouth wide open. His mind raced.
Hey! I talked him up so much!
